10 Family-Friendly Activities For Quarantine

April 16, 2020

Welcome!

This is the GetOutPass blog. It's where we explore topics we're interested in. We hope you'll find them useful too! Feel free to stay and explore.

Many of us have probably become pretty complacent during this quarantine and many are doing the same things on a day to day basis. There has been a lot of time to think about what to do until people can take full advantage of the GetOutPass. Some of us are running out of ideas of what to do while we are advised to quarantine and social distance. We hope that we can help pass the time and give good ideas to stay active, safe, and have fun while staying indoors! We have come up with 10 different activities to do.

1. Stream a yoga class

It’s the perfect way to learn yoga for those who have never done it—all in the comfort of their home. If you’re already an expert, streaming classes can keep you in good shape with a weekly routine!

2. Family game night over video chat

Some don’t have the ability to see close family or even friends during this time but thank goodness we have video chat options through multiple platforms! This is a perfect way to see family and friends and still play your favorite games while indoors.

3. “Day” at the amusement park

Some are getting antsy to go to an amusement park. There is good news for those wanting to get back on those roller coasters and eat those concessions! One idea is to create a roller coaster kart out of a laundry basket or a cardboard box. Design the kart, get in the kart and stream your favorite rollercoaster online! You can also make churros, popcorn and other yummy treats you would eat at the park. This is a perfect way for families and kids to get excited to take advantage of the amusement parks on the GetOutPass!

4. Go on a hike

Need to be able to breathe in the great outdoors? Going on a small hike or walk is a great way to get outside. This will get you ready for all the great outdoor venues on the GetOutPass!

5. Do a home work out

What's a better way to stay in shape and active than doing a home workout?! This is such a good way to keep on track with fitness goals or to start them. This can be done with many household items to stay in shape: books, buckets of water, refrigerators, just to name a few.

6. Have a Nerf war or snowball war

This is a great idea for those who have Nerf guns laying around. For those who don't, you can grab some extra loose leaf paper and crumple it up like a snowball. Once you have the Nerf guns or snowballs ready, divide into teams and GAME ON!

7. Cook a meal from a different culture

It is always fun to learn about other cultures. This is a great time to educate yourself on a place or people that you don’t know much about. Then, prepare one of their popular meals! Fun, delicious, educational.

8. Family paint night

It’s time to learn how to paint as a family. You can also share on social media and see who has the best painting! Is there a future Bob Ross in the house? You’ll never know if you don’t try.

9. Do a puzzle

Doing a puzzle can keep the brain going! This is such a good and fun way to get together with family and work together to pass the time and create something awesome!

10. Share one of your ideas with someone else

We want you to share your favorite ideas on Social media and be sure to let us know! This is an awesome way to make sure we are all staying safe, having fun and learning new things!

We are excited to get back to doing all the things we love! For now, these are just a few fun ideas to do as we prepare for an awesome summer with the GetOutPass!
